So being the person that I am, of course I did nail art inspired by the libraries:
I think I have gone off the deep end of nail art...but read more about the nail art after the jump!
So I wanted to represent the libraries as a colorful, new culture/community, not your boring old books-collecting-dust environment. For this post, I'm doing things a little bit differently. I'll tell you about the idea behind each nail, and then I'll list the colors used for each nail. I didn't use any complex techniques, so there's that.
Each nail has a base coat and a top coat of Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat by Sally Hansen, with the exception of my pinky, which has a coat of Matte Me Crazy by NYC as a top coat.
For my thumb, I have a blue-purple gradient with Z's. I'm pretty sure you know why, but it's because students are often known for falling asleep in the libraries. Not me though. I sleep in a bed. Always. The colors I used are Char by Julep, What a Broad by Sephora by OPI, and Snow Me White by Sinful Colors.
For my pointer finger, I have falling colorful dots on a white background to represent the falling of knowledge of various subject matters into the brains of students as they study away in the libraries. In my mind, this is how we learn - we are diffused with ideas from the idea cloud. The colors I used are Snow Me White by Sinful Colors, 24/7 by Sinful Colors, Cloud 9 by Sinful Colors, Dream On by Sinful Colors, and Too Yacht to Handle by China Glaze.
For my middle finger, I have a color block on a nude background to represent students studying different subject matters but within close proximity. You could be studying math in one corner, but your neighbor might be studying politics. Very different. The colors I used are Easy Going by Sinful Colors, Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Lacey Lilac by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, I Gotta Blush on You by Sephora by OPI, Nellie by Julep, and Rise and Shine by Sinful Colors.
For my ring finger, I have the traditional bookshelf full of books. Books. Library. Books. I think that's very obvious. The colors I used are Fiore by Julep, Snow Me White by Sinful Colors, Black Out by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Happy Ending by Sinful Colors, Ruby Ruby by Sinful Colors, Endless Blue by Sinful Colors, What a Broad by Sephora by OPI, and Too Yacht to Handle by China Glaze.
Finally, for my pinky finger, I have stamped the Apple logo onto my nail. One of my libraries (and a lot of students here) have a lot of Apple products. The only Apple product I own is my iPod nano, 2nd generation, in a bright pink color. It still works. The colors I used are Tribeca Silver by NYC and Special White Polish by Konad, in combination with the SH 216 plate by Shany Cosmetics.
The picture I submitted to the competition was one I took with flash. I think these nails look better with flash, so here is a picture of my nails with flash:
Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh look at that beauty. I hope I win. I won't find out until March 7 though. But in the meantime, I will be studying for another midterm!!! Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you all have a wonderful day! :)
Next time, maybe you should have a similar color that ties all the different images together!
ReplyDeleteI will keep that in mind :)
