I've been doing some searching, and according to this site here, the next time that Easter will land on an April 20th isn't until 2025, so I took advantage of this coincidence now, and I bring you this:
Easter themes and marijuana themes - all rolled into one manicure! :D
OKAY QUICK NOTE: I do not smoke marijuana, nor do I have plans to. Whether you do or not is up to you - I keep my hands out of this.
These nails were fun to do - read up more after the jump! :)
For this manicure:
All nails were prepped with a coat of Base Coat by Finger Paints and finished with a coat of Double Duty Strengthening Base and Top Coat by Sally Hansen.
Thumb - I sponged a gradient of Mellow Yellow by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Cloud 9 by Sinful Colors, and Maya by Julep over a base coat of Snow Me White by Sinful Colors. Details were added with Snow Me White by Sinful Colors.
Pointer Finger - Over a base of mademoiselle by essie, I painted on a bunny in Snow Me White by Sinful Colors. The pink in the ears is I Gotta Blush on You by Sephora by OPI, the eyes are Black Out by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, and the nose is Penelope by Julep.
Middle Finger - I sponged on a gradient of Mellow Yellow by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, and Bess by Julep over a base coat of Snow Me White by Sinful Colors. Details were added with Snow Me White by Sinful Colors.
Ring Finger - I started with a base color of I Gotta Blush on You by Sephora by OPI, and then I free-handed the (poorly drawn) marijuana leaf in Monet Money by Finger Paints.
Pinky Finger - I started with a base coat of In the Lime Light by China Glaze, and then I free-handed the numbers using Snow Me White by Sinful Colors.
I think I did a pretty good job, considering that this was my first time drawing a marijuana leaf ever and it was on my nails. But if I hadn't told you that it was pot, would you still have recognized it as such? Probably not, right?
Details are much easier to draw with diluted paints. I learned this technique from the lovely MrCandiipants who has probably one of the most entertaining YouTube channels in the world (check her out here!) If you dilute your polish with pure acetone, it thins out the polish, making it the perfect consistency for nail art. I shall have to remember that more often.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful Easter holiday, or whatever it is you celebrate :)
