I have made three resolutions this year:
1. To run this blog and incorporate it into my life
2. To write more with my left hand (so that I become ambidextrous)
3. To make a fruit smoothie a day!
And hopefully I can keep all three resolutions. I used to be the type to make like 10 resolutions a year and keep none of them, so I'm only making 3 resolutions this year in the hopes that I keep all of them! Anyways, onto the nails that I have painted:
My nails are simple, just like my resolutions :) I will tell you more about them after the jump!
A lot of nail artists I follow prefer to keep their nails square. For some reason I just don't like square on my nails, so thus they shall remain ovular!
For this manicure:
I started with a base coat of Double Duty Base & Top Coat by Sally Hansen. After that dried, I applied two coats of Jillian by Julep as my base color. I cleaned up around my nails, and added a top coat of Matte Me Crazy by NYC. Finally, I added dots of Mia by Julep using a dotting tool.
And that's it! I really like how the dots are so shiny against the matte background. Of course, you do not want to add a traditional top coat over this design as you will lose the matte finish in the background.
The thing about matte top coats is that they're sometimes hard to capture. For example, I took a picture with the flash turned on and this is how it came out:
Like whoa hold on to your horses because there's obviously a party on my nails and I didn't even know about it. So pro tip: do not photograph matte polished with the flash on. See this party? It's excluding the matte, and we don't want that :(
Oh, if you have a keen eye, you may have noticed that each of my pictures so far has come with a different watermark attached to it. I'm just playing around with watermarks until I figure out which one I like the most. But for now, my heart is not set on anything yet.
That's it for now! I hope you guys have a wonderful day, and I hope we shall meet again soon :)
